Sellers stop selling. They change career, lose interest, or a product runs its course. It is worth knowing where that leaves you before you are in it.
Your licence does not expire
A licence you bought is yours permanently. If the seller removes the item, or closes their store, you keep the right to use what you already paid for. That is a promise made to you at purchase and it does not depend on the seller still being here.
Your download stays available
The package you bought remains in My licences. A removed item disappears from the storefront so nobody new can buy it, but it does not disappear from the people who already did.
What does stop
- Updates. There will not be any
- Author support, whether or not its period had run out
- Anything that depended on the seller's own servers, if the item used them
That last one is the real risk, and it is worth checking before you buy rather than after.
Protecting yourself in advance
Download the package and keep your own copy, rather than relying on being able to fetch it later. Note the purchase code somewhere outside the platform. And prefer items that work standalone over ones that phone home to something only the seller controls.
Licence checks keep working
Verification runs against the marketplace, not the seller, so a seller leaving does not switch off your item. The offline grace period covers you even if we are unreachable.
