Download policy
DownloadsWhen you take an item on OurCodeMarket, paid or free, you get the files and you keep getting them. This policy sets out how downloads work, how long they last, and the few things that can interrupt them.
There is no download window and no download limit. For as long as you hold the licence, you can download the item again, and you will always receive the newest version the seller has published rather than the one that existed on the day you bought.
No expiry
Downloads never time out. Come back in two years and the item is still there.
Always the latest
Every download serves the newest published version, at no extra cost.
Tied to your account
Files are served after a licence check, never from a public link.
Updates included
New versions stay free for as long as you hold the licence, support or not.
01 What you can download
Everything you hold a licence for appears under My licences. Each entry serves the item's package: the files the seller published, together with whatever documentation and assets they included.
A licence is issued per item, so an order containing three items produces three separate licences and three separate downloads. Free items work identically to paid ones here. See the free items policy.
02 How long downloads stay available
For as long as you hold the licence. There is no expiry date, no download window, and no cap on how many times you may take a copy.
You bought a licence to use the item, not a single delivery of a file. Losing a laptop, rebuilding a server, or returning to a project after two years should not cost you what you paid for.
Support expiring does not affect downloads. Support is the seller's time answering questions and it runs for a set window. Downloads and updates do not expire at all. See the item support policy.
03 Downloads are tied to your account
Files are served through us after we check the licence, not from a public link. You need to be signed in as the account that holds the licence.
This has two consequences worth knowing:
- A download link cannot be forwarded to somebody else. Anyone opening it is asked to sign in, and gets nothing unless they hold their own licence.
- A link you saved months ago still works, because it is not a temporary URL that expires.
If a purchase seems to be missing, check which account you are signed in as. Buying while signed in with Google and later signing in with an email and password lands you in a different account, and it is the most common cause by a distance.
04 Updates and new versions
When a seller publishes a new version of an item you own, you download it from the same place at no extra cost, for as long as you hold the licence.
- Updates never expire, whatever your support status says
- The download always serves the newest published version
- Sellers who keep a changelog put it on the item page
Nothing is ever pushed to your server. An update is a new file waiting for you to download and apply deliberately, so a live site never changes underneath you.
If you have edited the item's code, an update can overwrite your changes. Keep customisations where the item supports them, such as a child theme or a config file, and take a backup before upgrading anything running in production.
05 What is in the package
What you receive is what the seller published and what the item page described. Sellers are required to include installation instructions, and review checks that the package matches the claims on the page.
If the download is missing something the item page promised, that is a fault. Raise it with the seller through item support first, since most are fixed the same day. If that goes nowhere, it may be grounds for a refund under the refund policy.
06 When a download will not start
Most failures are one of four things, and all are quick to rule out:
- Confirm you are signed in as the account that bought the item
- Turn off ad blockers, privacy extensions or a VPN for one attempt
- Try another browser or another network, since some corporate networks block zip files outright
- Check the file size against what the browser expected, because a zip that will not open is often a download that stopped early
If none of that works, this one is ours rather than the seller's. Do not spend time in item support on it. Open a ticket with your order number, the item name, your browser and roughly when you tried, which is usually enough for us to find the request in our logs.
07 If an item is removed
A seller may withdraw an item from sale at any time. That does not affect you: existing licence holders keep their downloads and their updates.
The exception is an item removed for a copyright claim or a security problem. In that case we may have to withdraw access for people who already hold it. Where that affects something you own we will tell you, and buyers who purchased within the previous 30 days may be eligible for a refund or account credit, at our discretion. Older purchases are not eligible. See the copyright and DMCA policy.
Because of that, and because your own backups are always faster than ours, keep a copy of anything you have deployed to production. See the copyright and DMCA policy.
08 Prohibited conduct
The following may result in licences being revoked, downloads suspended, or the account closed:
- Sharing your account so others can download items you hold
- Redistributing downloaded files, in whole or in part, anywhere
- Using automated tools, bots or scripts to bulk-download items
- Circumventing the licence check that serves the files
- Creating multiple accounts to get around a limit or a suspension
- Reselling or repackaging a downloaded item, here or elsewhere
What you may do with the code once downloaded is governed by the licence terms for the tier you hold.
09 Service availability
We aim to keep downloads available continuously, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, an incident, or a problem at a provider can make downloads temporarily unavailable.
An interruption does not shorten anything. Your licence, your downloads and your updates are unaffected, and access resumes when service does. If a download is failing for longer than a few hours, tell us, because that is not maintenance.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed, and material changes will be announced on the blog. Licences already issued continue on the terms under which they were issued.
